Brian R. Scheuerman Obituary

Brian R. Scheuerman, 61, of Salisbury Center, New York passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, October 12, 2022 at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York after being stricken at home.

He was born on November 5, 1960 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Harry and Beverly (Hall) Scheuerman. Brian was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1978.

Brian was formerly employed by the Town of Salisbury Highway Department as a laborer where he worked until his retirement in 2013 after 28 years of service. He also was a long-time director of the Town of Salisbury Recreational Program.

In 1996, Brian met BillieJo Boyer and the couple entered into a loving relationship for 26 years. During their time together, they shared a loving home and enjoyed time with each other. During the course of their relationship, Brian and BillieJo cared for many family friends’ children and took care of them as their own children and grandchildren.

Brian was a 39-year member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department where he carried on many roles during his service. He became a fireman in 1983. In 1985-served as Rec. Sect., 1986-Firefighter of the Year, 1986-Captain, 1986-Vice President, 1990-1991-2nd Assistant Chief, 1992-1993-1st Assistant Chief, 1994-2nd Assistant Chief, 1995-2nd Assistant Chief, 1996-1st Assistant Chief, 1997-1st Assistant Chief, 1998-2003 Safety Officer, 2004-2006-Assistant Chief, 2009-2010-President, 2010-Present- Current Member.

He was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church. Brian was long-time member of the Dolgeville Masonic Temple-Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #796 and the East Canada Fish and Game Club.

In his spare time, Brian was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and all outdoor activities. He could fix anything and accomplished many home improvements alongside his brothers and brothers-in-law. Brian was very community oriented and dedicated much of his time to the fire department. His most precious time was spent in the company of his companion, his family and his adopted children, adopted grandchildren and many, many friends. Brian has left a long-lasting legacy in which he will be remembered with fond and funny memories for years to come. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved soul-mate, BillieJo Boyer, at home; his siblings, Keith Scheuerman and his companion, Shannon Greene, Brenda Chamberlin-Crews and her husband, Jesse, Cynthia Briggs and her husband, Ronald, Vicki Scheuerman, Julie Ruggiero and her husband, Dave and David Scheuerman and his companion, Christine Tenney; mother-in-law, Donna Boyer; sisters-in-law, Kelleen Neisler and Lisa Bellinger and her husband, David; several aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews many close special friends too numerous to mention, neighbors, co-workers, personal adopted children and adopted grandchildren.

Brian was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Beverly Scheuerman and his father-in-law, Wilfred Boyer.

Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, October 17, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. The Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Firefighter’s Service at 7 p.m. All local fire departments are welcome to attend the service. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home with the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department Chaplain Pastor Mark Hediger officiating. Procession will follow to the Firehouse as a final farewell to their brother, Brian. A private committal service will be held at Curtis Corners Cemetery in Salisbury, New York where he will be laid to rest.

Brian’s family would like to thank his brothers within the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department especially, Paulie Barnes, his brother, David Scheuerman, Neil Winkler and Gary Farquar, Sr. and to the Emergency Department Staff at Little Falls Hospital for all of the heroic measures and efforts that were taken to save Brian’s life. Your tremendous persistence and care will be treasured by us beyond words and we will be forever grateful.
