Brian "Cork" H. Harper Obituary

Brian "Cork" H. Harper, 73, of Salisbury Center, New York, passed away on Saturday evening, May 2, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home.

He was born on February 13, 1947 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late Willard and Helene (Lenz) Harper. Cork was educated at Dolgeville Central School.

Cork was previously married to Dale Lorrain Crossman for 18 years. She passed away on January 28, 1994. On September 20, 2012, he was united in marriage to Jodie L. Moore at Howe's Caverns, New York.

He started his career at North Hudson Woodcraft in Dolgeville, New York. He then went on to work for Pettibone Corporation as a crane operator for 18 years.  Cork was last employed with the Town of Salisbury as a heavy equipment operator and retired in 2009, after 23 years of service.

Cork was of the Presbyterian faith.  He was a member of Salisbury Ridge Runners, and a former member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department, Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club, Sprite Club, and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, camping, watching NASCAR, classic cars and car shows.  His most precious time was that spent in the company of his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jodie L. Harper at home; his children, Brian Harper and his wife, Nikki of Salisbury Center, NY, Darci Taylor and her husband, James of Broadalbin, NY, Brad Harper and his wife, Jessica of Salisbury Center, NY, April Galletta and her husband, Josh of Dolgeville, NY, Kelsey Reid and her husband, Greg of Dolgeville, NY, and Tyler Kluge and his companion, Kayla Wilson of Gloversville, NY; 15 grandchildren; a sister in law, Penni Harper of Salisbury Center, NY; mother in law, Joan Moore of Ilion, NY; his special dog, Sophie; several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cork was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Harper, father in law, Dean Moore, Sr. and brother in law, Dean Moore, Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a calling hour on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from 12 p.m. (noon) to 1 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.  The family will be standing outside of the funeral home and are requesting anyone that wishes to pay their respects to their family, to please drive by and greet them from your car. All are welcome to drive by. The family will hold a Celebration of Life gathering at a later time for all to attend.

The Harper Family would like to thank Cork's mother in law, Joan Moore for being a loving caregiver to him for the last three months.
