Bonnie L. Aubin Obituary

Bonnie L. Aubin, 55, of Stratford, New York, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, April 10, 2023 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York after suffering a brief illness. She was comforted by the love and support of her family at the time of her passing.

Bonnie was born on July 8, 1967 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia and was the daughter of the late, Ronald and Sherly (Punneo) Aubin. She was educated at Stratford Central School and graduated with the Class of 1986. Bonnie furthered her education at SUNY Albany where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with the Class of 1987.

On September 1, 1987, Bonnie enlisted in the United States Navy. She rose through the ranks as a Naval Intelligence Specialist, where she played an integral part in the support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. Her career took her to Kuwait, China, Sri Lanka, and numerous other stateside and worldwide locations. After 20 years of serving her country, Bonnie was honorably discharged and retired on September 16, 2007 at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Bonnie was a member of the American Legion and several national and local book clubs. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and friends, and cherished the company of Sebastian, her Chocolate Labrador Retriever.

Bonnie is survived by her siblings, Richard Aubin of Grovetown, GA and his longtime companion, Lorraine Seamans, David Aubin of Salisbury Center, NY, and Nancy Aubin of Stratford, NY; nieces and nephews, Ryan Aubin and his wife Jessa of Jacksonville, FL, Kayleigh Aubin of Middletown, DE, Andrew Aubin of Jacksonville, SC, Jordan Aubin of Norfolk, VA, Cody Jasewicz of Deerfield, NY, Colton Jasewicz of Laceyville, PA, Rhea Allen of Stratford, NY, and Alessandria Aubin of Stratford, NY.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Sherly (Punneo) Aubin and her sister, Robyn Aubin.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Ave., Dolgeville, New York. A memorial service will be held immediately following the calling hours at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. A Patriot Honor Guard procession will proceed to Dibble Tuttle Cemetery, Emmonsburg Rd., Salisbury Center, New York, where Honor Guard Member of the United States Navy will accord Bonnie their funeral honors. All are welcome to attend the services.
