Arnold L. Hart, Sr. Obituary

Arnold L. Hart, Sr., 86, of the Town of Oppenheim, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 16, 2026 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 17, 1939 at his family home on Kringsbush Rd. in the Town of Oppenheim, New York and was the son of the late Olin and Sarah (Kretser) Hart. Arnold was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.

On July 5, 1970, Arnold was united in marriage to Jean Elizabeth Glowatcky in Little Falls, New York. They shared a union of 55 years together and raised their six sons in a loving home.

He was employed as a molder at Chicago Pneumatic in Utica, New York for 32 years.

Arnold enjoyed all outdoor activities which included hunting, fishing, camping, coyote hunting as well as being an avid snowmobiler and motorcyclist. Most of all, he enjoyed being able to share these passions with those he loved. 

He was one of the founding members of the Oppenheim Trailblazers Snowmobile Club. His countless volunteer hours included grooming of the trails and help building the clubhouse, he was a lifetime member, a board member as well as serving as President for many years.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Arnold will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean E. Hart at home; five sons, Jim Hart, Sr. of Oppenheim, NY, Thomas “Chico” Hart and his wife, Bert of Ephratah, NY, Wayne Hart and his wife, Jodee of Little Falls, NY, Scott Hart of Oppenheim, NY and Greg Hart of Oppenheim, NY; grandchildren, James Hart, Jr., Kateri Hart, Daniel Hart and his wife, Ashley, Michael Hart, Sierra Hart, Brayden Hart and his significant other  Raelynn "Smiley" Williams, Lyndon Hart, Anya Hart and Aurora Hart; great-grandchildren, Joseph Hart, Jr., William Hart,  Axten Hart, Emrianna Hart and Emily Hart; a sister, Dorothy Mosher and her husband, Jacque of St. Johnsville, NY; sister-in-law, Deanne Hart of St. Johnsville, NY; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Eugene Trudeau of the Philippines; several special nieces and nephews.

Arnold was predeceased by his father, Olin Hart, Sr.; mother, Sarah (Kretser) Hart, son, Arnold L. Hart, Jr.; grandson, Joseph Hart, Sr.; siblings, Pauline and John Filipczuk, Erma and Steve Genis, Richard and Esther Hart, Olin “Bud” and Anna Hart, Edward Hart, Raymond and Tess Hart; and David and Arlene Hart.

Keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no formal services.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at the Oppenheim Trailblazers Snowmobile Club, located at 242 Crystal Lake Rd., Stratford, New York 13470 on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. In keeping with family wishes, there will be no formal services.
