Arlene A. Ellis Obituary

Arlene A. Ellis, 92, of Oppenheim, New York, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, March 28, 2024 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in St. Johnsville, New York with her loving children by her side.

She was born on June 27, 1931 in Oppenheim, New York and was the daughter of the late, John and Lottie (Sleezer) Bicar. Arlene was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.

On December 3, 1949, Arlene was united in marriage to Calvin L. Ellis at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church Parsonage. The couple shared 55 years of marriage together until Calvin passed away on February 6, 2005.

Arlene was a loving home maker for her husband and children. She also took care of many local children in Oppenheim throughout the years in her home.

She was a member of the Hilltop Ladies Auxiliary. Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and in younger years watching and supporting their sporting events. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Brian Ellis and his wife, Barb, Larry Ellis and his wife, Kim and Debbie McKinney and her husband, Jim all of Dolgeville, NY; her grandchildren, Sarah Ellis, Renee Dingman and her husband, Darcy, Nicole Eckler and her husband, Rick, Cody Bly and his wife, Danielle, and Kolten McKinney; great-grandchildren, Paige Dingman, Piper Dingman, Cal Bly and Camden Bly; two sisters-in-law, Marion Keyser of Little Falls, NY and Esther Ellis of Dolgeville, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arlene was predeceased by her siblings, Eleanor Dillenbeck and her husband, Bill, May Keyser, and George Keyser and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon "Bud" and Beth Ellis, Robert “Bob” Ellis, and Gary Ellis and his companion, Marge.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Dolgeville Cemetery in Dolgeville, New York. All are welcome to attend.
