Andrea Maygen VanDenburgh, 17, of Stratford, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024 in the comfort of her home after a life-long battle with Angelman syndrome.
She was born on September 13, 2007 in Cooperstown, New York and is the daughter of, George Edward Vandenburgh, IV and Heather Ann (Yezek) VanDenburgh. Andrea attended Herkimer County B.O.C.E.S where she was an 11th grade student and was loved by her friends and teachers.
Andrea enjoyed watching cartoons, soft chewy toys, wrapping herself in her blanket, people watching and the comfort of anyone sitting near her. She loved spending time with her family in the company of her parents and four siblings. Andrea’s smile could light up a room and brought great joy to those who knew her. She will be sorely and deeply missed.
She is survived by her parents, Ed VanDenburgh, IV of Dolgeville, NY and Heather VanDenburgh of Stratford, NY; paternal grandmother, Judy Kolstad and her husband, Scott of East Springfield, NY; her siblings, Matthew Huestis of CT, Sam (JJ) VanDenBurgh, Bethany VanDenburgh and Allison VanDenburgh all of Stratford, NY; aunts and uncles, Tiffany Henderson and her husband, Nick of Edmeston, NY, Jennifer Yezek of Long Island, NY, Lynn Marshall and husband, Jason of VA and Cheryl VanDenburgh of Laurens, NY; a special caregiver, Valorie Burroughs of Gloversville, NY and several cousins.
Andrea was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, George Edward VanDenburgh, III.
A Celebration of Andrea’s Life Reception will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Creative Designs by Tiffany, 78 South Main Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. All are welcome to stop by to share in the beautiful life of Andrea VanDenburgh.

Andrea’s family would like to thank her teachers, bus drivers and aides, therapists and the support staff at Herkimer County B.O.C.E.S. who worked with and cared for Andrea through the years.
