Allan “Butch” W. Reitz, 72, of Dolgeville, New York passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning, February 17, 2023 at his home.

He was born on May 3, 1950 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Walter and Marian (Kelly) Reitz. Butch was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1968.

Butch was formerly married to Elizabeth “Betty” A. Lussier. She passed away on October 10, 2022 at the age of 72.

In his early days, Butch was employed and worked alongside his father at Clifford Fuel Company station on the corner of Faville Avenue and Main Street in Dolgeville, for many years until his father’s retirement. He then went on to work for Adirondack Bat for many years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Butch was an avid NASCAR fan, loved watching Major League Baseball and the History Channel. In younger years, he liked to fish and hunt. His favorite time was visiting with his friends especially at Brad’s garage where he formed many friendships throughout the years and spending time with his grandchildren.

Butch is survived by a daughter, Lisa Carrigan and her husband, Boyd Carrigan of Leland, NC; two grandsons, Brandon Griffith of Dolgeville, NY, Alec Carrigan of Dolgeville, NY; twin great-grandchildren, Alexander Griffith and Soleidy Griffith; siblings, Kathy Dillenbeck and her husband, Jack of the Town of Salisbury, NY, Cheryl Moore and her husband, Robert of Milford, NY, Marianne Dillenbeck and her husband, Kevin of Middleville, NY,; and Martin Reitz of Dolgeville, NY; Betty’s daughters, Kimberly Trumble and her husband, Horatio Trumble of Oppenheim, NY, and Tiffani Trumble and her husband, Nathaniel Trumble of Dolgeville, NY; and their children, Ian Smith of Oppenheim, NY, Hunter Smith of Oppenheim, NY, Brooke Trumble of Oppenheim, NY, Mason Mowers of Dolgeville, NY and Waylon Trumble of Dolgeville, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and several cherished friends.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. also at the funeral home. A spring burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, New York where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
