Alan B. Howe Obituary

Alan B. Howe, 70, of the Town of Oppenheim, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, August 8, 2021 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born on July 25, 1951 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, James and Bernice (Ballatore) Howe. Alan was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1971.

On September 24, 1988, Alan was united in marriage to Cindy Howe at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in St. Johnsville, New York where they shared a union of 25 years.

Alan was formerly employed by Conrail/CSX as a machine operator and worked at various locations around central New York for the railroad. In 1998, he retired after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was a true National Rifle Association member and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, boating, camping and was an amazing joke teller. In his younger years, Alan was a member of several bands including his last and most favorite band called, "Movin' On" as a guitarist and lead vocalist. Alan will be deeply missed by his family.

Alan is survived by his loving family; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Howe; nephews, Dante Howe, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, David Howe and his wife, Cheyenne; a niece, Danielle Mosher and her husband, Ronnie; a nephew, Darian Howe and his wife, Hailey; his former wife and dear friend, Cindy Howe; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Bernice Howe; brothers, Dante Howe and James Howe; nephew, Douglas Howe; great-nephew, Steven and great-niece, Tiffany.

In keeping with Alan's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. The Howe Family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Dopp's Inn, 166 S. Main Street, Dolgeville, New York with finger foods and some drinks provided. They hope to see you there. The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.

The Howe Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital and St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their compassion and care that was shown to Alan and his family during his stay. The family would especially like to thank Alan's niece, "Sal", for her dedication and care for her Uncle Alan throughout the last several years and for her continued care after his passing.
