Specialist Justin "Doc" Doxstader, 26, of Salisbury Center, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 27, 2009 while stationed in Seoul, South Korea with the United States Army.

Justin was born on September 24, 1983, in Ilion, NY, a son of Colleen Riesel and Donald Doxstader. He attended Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 2001. He was proud to be a member of the Dolgeville football team that won the NYS Championship in 2000.

Upon his graduation, Justin enlisted in the United States Air Force where he spent four years in the Military Police. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Iraqi Freedom where he received Mission Support Group Superior Performer of the Month. He evacuated a search area during a canine bomb alert saving 50 lives and more than $15 billion in resources. While there, he also mentored children at the Sollars Elementary School.

He then went on to be a part of the Army National Guard and served as a Recruiting Officer. After the Army National Guard, he enlisted in the United States Army and was a Blackhawk Aircraft Mechanic. He was deployed to Seoul, South Korea and held the rank of an E-4. While in his eight years of military duty, Justin earned many awards and merits.

Justin was a member of the Dolgeville Masonic Temple #796 and was also a Shriner, who participated as a clown in the Shriner events. He was an avid outdoorsman and bowler, enjoyed playing softball, flag football,and golf ,loved to sing karaoke, and was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders. He most especially enjoyed being a father to his two children and spending time with his loving family. Justin was well-known by all that knew him as a great friend. He had a smile and eyes that would light up a room. He will be remembered as being a kind-hearted man who loved his friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Colleen Reisel and her husband Chad of Herkimer, his father, Donald Doxstader and Tina of Dolgeville; his beloved children; son, Chase Edward Doxstader of Little Falls, and his daughter, Isis Rayne Doxstader of Turner, Maine; a sister, Janessa Doxstader of Dolgeville; brothers, Ryan Zawtocki of Herkimer, Jay and Joey Doxstader of Dolgeville, and step-sisters, Hannah, Braelyn and Emma Reisel of Herkimer; maternal grandmother, Debbie Spofford; paternal grandmother, June Doxstader; aunts and uncles, Michelle and Joseph Putney, Carmen Carter, Scott Carter, Don Carter, Kris and Kim Ritton, Dale Doxstader, and Dave and Val Doxstader; many cousins and numerous special friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Donald Doxstader, Sr.

Calling hours for Justin will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. The Dolgeville Masonic Temple #796 will hold a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Reams officiating. Private burial services will be held in Curtiss Corner’s Cemetery in the Town of Salisbury where full military honors will be offered.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions in memory of Justin to be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Ziyara Office, 251 Genesee Street, Utica,NY 13501. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
